Bio

James Deen (born Bryan Matthew Sevilla, February 7, 1986) is an American adult film actor, director, and producer from Pasadena, California. Raised by two engineers — his father a mechanical engineer and his mother a computer electronic engineer — Deen took an unconventional path into the entertainment industry, entering the adult film world in 2004 at just 18 years old after briefly attending Pasadena City College.
Deen quickly stood out in an industry dominated by heavily muscled, tattooed performers. With his lean frame, boy-next-door looks, and natural on-screen charisma, he redefined what a male adult performer could look like, earning a massive and dedicated fanbase known as “Deenagers.” His approachable persona attracted attention far beyond the adult world, landing him features in mainstream outlets and cultural discussions about modern sexuality.
In 2009, at the age of 22, he became the youngest actor to win the AVN Male Performer of the Year award. His crossover ambitions led to a role alongside Lindsay Lohan in the 2013 film The Canyons, directed by Paul Schrader and written by Bret Easton Ellis. That same year, he made headlines by producing the first-ever adult scene recorded using Google Glass.
Throughout his career, Deen appeared in well over 1,700 scenes and took on roles as both director and producer. He also co-founded his own production brand and launched a merchandise line under the name Baby Panda.
In late 2015, Deen’s career took a dramatic turn when multiple women, including former partners Stoya and Joanna Angel, came forward with serious allegations of sexual misconduct. Several major studios cut ties with him, and he stepped down from his role as chairman of the Adult Performer Advocacy Committee. These events significantly impacted his standing in the industry and sparked wider conversations about consent and accountability in adult entertainment.
